Living out God’s Plan - HC

Living out God’s Plan

Aug 24, 2025

Passage: Exodus 13:17-22

Preacher: Clint Pressley

Series: Exodus

Summary:

God’s Plan is the Best Plan.

Outline:

  1. God’s Way is the Best Way. v17-18

  2. God’s Promises are the Best Promises. v19

  3. God’s Help is the Best Help. v20-22

Questions/Application

1. Looking at Exodus 14:13-15, what three commands did Moses give the people, and how do these apply to our spiritual battles today? Moses told the people to 'fear not,' 'stand firm,' and 'see the salvation of the Lord,' followed by God's command to 'move forward.' Which of these commands do you find most challenging to follow in your own life, and why?

2. In Exodus 14, Pastor Clint emphasizes that the Israelites contributed nothing to their own deliverance at the Red Sea. How does this parallel our salvation through Jesus Christ? What areas of your life are you trying to 'earn' God's favor rather than accepting His grace?

3. The sermon discusses how the Israelites only lifted their eyes high enough to see the Egyptians, but not high enough to see God's presence in the pillar of cloud. What keeps us from 'lifting our eyes higher' in times of crisis? What practical steps can you take to focus on God's presence rather than your problems during difficult times?

4. How does the sermon's emphasis on asking 'how' instead of 'why' during difficult situations change our perspective on trials? Think of a current challenge you're facing - how might reframing it from 'why' to 'how' change your approach to it?

5. The sermon emphasizes that God's ways often seem confusing to the human mind, as shown by Him leading Israel into what appeared to be a trap. How does this challenge our trust in God's leadership? Can you share a time when God's direction seemed confusing but later proved to be for your good?
