The Responsibility of Grace - Harris

The Responsibility of Grace

Nov 17, 2019

Passage: Romans 8:12-17

Preacher: Clint Pressley

Series: Romans

Summary:

Great Grace Means Great Responsibility.

Outline:

  1. We Are Debtors to Grace. v12-13
    • Take the initiative and responsibility that you are by God’s grace and through His Spirit tired of shame and losing and living with a low grade sin fever.
    • Repudiate everything you know to be wrong. Say it out loud and learn to hate it.
    • Get ruthless with sin. Quit flirting with sin and getting too close to the edge.
    • Develop aspirations. (Colossians 3:1-2) Develop healthy Godly pursuits.
    • Occupy your thoughts with what’s noble. (Philippians 4:8)
    • Admit sin for what it is. Be offensive to your self and label your own sin.
    • See sin for what it is. Poison to your heart. Offensive to God and the punishment is incurs.
    • Imagine the worst scenario. The eventual worst road.
    • Be in real fellowship in a church. Not passive but active accountability.
    • Confess all known sin everyday to God.
    • Matthew 6:22-23
  2. We Are Children of Grace. v14-17
    • The Progression of Grace.
    • The Sign of Grace.
    • The Strength of Grace.
