Community Groups
We desire every member to gather around the Word in Community Groups.
Acts 2:42–47
[42] And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. [43] And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. [44] And all who believed were together and had all things in common. [45] And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. [46] And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, [47] praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. (ESV)
Community Groups are small groups of believers that gather around the Word and are committed to four primary places that promote a healthy, biblical community.
- Community Groups provide a place for Bible study, discussion, & application.
Acts 2:42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…- The commitment is to Bible study, and the primary place is on Sunday mornings.
- Community Groups provide a place for fellowship.
Acts 2:42 - And they devoted themselves to…fellowship, to the breaking of bread…- The commitment is to fellowship, and the primary place is family time in homes.
- Community Groups provide a place for prayer and member care.
Acts 2:42 - And they devoted themselves to…the prayers. Acts 2:44-45 - And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.- The commitment is praying for, celebrating with, and meeting the needs of others within the group.
- Community Groups provide a place for accountability.
- The commitment is to sharpen one another in both spiritual disciplines and spiritual growth, and the primary place for accountability is within a Discipleship Group (D-Group).
